Following completion of his orthopedics training, Dr. Saldanha volunteered for deployment in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While serving, he also founded the first orthopedic humanitarian clinic treating women and children displaced by the war. After returning to the United States Dr. Saldanha served as an orthopedic traumatologist, training active duty airmen in war trauma techniques and assisted in the development of the Sustained Medical Airman Readiness Training program at the 99th Surgical Operations Squadron in Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
From 2013-2016 Dr. Saldanha was an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery with the University of Nevada School of Medicine and completed further education in complex Adult Reconstruction under world renowned surgeon Anthony Hedley.
Dr. Saldanha is actively involved in orthopedic research. He is an associate editor for the International Journal of Advanced Joint Reconstruction and has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals. In 2019, Dr. Saldanha received his MBA from McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin.
Dr. Saldanha has received several awards including Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, induction into the American Orthopedic Association -Emerging Leader Program, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Saldanha has been recognized by his peers from 2020 through 2022 as a Texas Monthly Super Doctors Rising Star. In 2023 and 2024, Dr. Saldanha was voted by his peers as a Texas Monthly Magazine Super Doctor. He has also been recognized locally as an Austin Monthly Top Doctor in 2021 through 2024.

Physician Assistant to Dr. Vilas Saldanha
Josh Brooks is an exceptional Orthopedic Physician Assistant specializing in orthopedic trauma and joint reconstruction. Currently, he serves as Lead PA at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, a Level 2 trauma center, utilizing his vast experience from Methodist Dallas Medical Center’s Level 1 trauma unit. After completing his BS in Biochemistry at McMurry University, Josh pursued a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Renowned for his superior clinical and surgical skills coupled with an extraordinary bedside manner, Josh is a valued professional in his field. His memberships in honor and professional societies, active DEA and Texas PA licensures, and Basic Life Support Certification reflect his unwavering dedication to healthcare.
