Dr. Benjamin McArthur is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in Adult Joint Reconstruction. Dr. McArthur earned his medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston and completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He is also fellowship-trained in Adult Joint Reconstruction, having completed a fellowship at The Mayo Clinic.
Dr. McArthur’s philosophy of care stems from his belief in holistic medicine. As a physician, he believes his job is not only to treat patients, but also to educate them about their condition.
Dr. McArthur specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery including revisions of prior replacement. In addition, he also specializes in hip preservation surgery for younger patients with pre-arthritic hip pain.
Along with hip and knee surgeries, Dr. McArthur also provides non-operative care including:
- Image-guided hip injections
- Steroid injections
- Arthrocentesis (fluid aspiration)
- Viscosupplementation
- Physical therapy
Dr. McArthur is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Perioperative Care at the Dell Medical School, University of Texas at Austin. He is also the Educational Director for the resident joint replacement rotation.
Dr. McArthur was voted by his peers to the Texas Monthly Super Doctors Rising Stars list in 2021, 2022 and 2023. He is also one of the Texas Orthopedic Sports Medicine providers that help cover the Texas Stars Hockey games.

Meet Chris Raymond, PA-C, MS, ATC, CES
Physician Assistant for Dr. Benjamin McArthur
Chris Raymond is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the State University of New York College at Cortland, his Masters of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Texas State University and his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.
Prior to joining Texas Orthopedics, Chris worked alongside orthopedic surgeons specializing in total joint arthroplasties, knee arthroscopy, multi-ligament reconstructions, orthopedic trauma and orthopedic urgent care. Chris is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, is a Certified Athletic Trainer, a Texas Licensed Athletic Trainer, a Corrective Exercise Specialist, and licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and young son. He enjoys time outdoors and being active. He loves trying new restaurants and going to the movies with his wife.
