Dr. Schultz is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in knee and hip surgery. He has a special interest in minimally-invasive knee and hip replacements, computer navigated surgery, and resurfacing hip arthroplasty.
Dr. Schultz is a native Austinite and graduate of Austin High School where he was the starting varsity quarterback for four years. During his high school sports career, he set Austin High and AISD records in passing yardage and was inducted into the Maroon Society as a graduating senior. He also earned a football scholarship to Rice University.
After several knee injuries sidelined his football career at Rice, he enrolled and graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He then completed medical school at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and both his General Surgical internship and Orthopedic Surgery residency training at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. While at Dartmouth, he also earned a Master’s Degree in Outcomes Research and Evidence-based Medicine. Finally, he completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine in San Antonio under the guidance of Dr. Jesse DeLee. During his fellowship training, he gained vast experience in Sports Medicine and Adult Joint Reconstruction.
Dr. Schultz enjoys the academic pursuit of medicine and has published several articles on the topic of ACL reconstruction. He is board-certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. He is Chief of Orthopaedics at Seton Northwest Hospital and is an active member of the teaching faculty of Dell Medical School’s Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.
He volunteers his time on the sidelines of Austin High School football games as their official Sports Medicine physician. He has two daughters and enjoys hunting, golf, and sports of all kinds.

Joy Mitchell, PA-C, is the Physician Assistant for Dr. Randall Schultz. Joy earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Bethel College in Tennessee. Joy is a member of the American Academy of Physicians Assistants, Texas Academy of PAs, and Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery. She is board certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
