Blake Schultz, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with additional fellowship training in orthopedic trauma. He specializes in complex fracture care, difficult-to-treat injuries, Anterior Total Hip Replacements and Shoulder Replacements.
Dr. Schultz believes in an individualized, patient-center approach to care. Every patient’s injury and functional goals are unique, and his multidisciplinary team will work to get you back to where you were before your injury.
Dr. Schultz attended Williams College in Massachusetts, where he earned a degree in economics and was captain of the basketball team. He was named Division III co-National Player of the Year and received the Josten’s Trophy and Purple Key Leadership Award for his academic, athletic, and community service contributions. After graduation, he played one season of professional basketball in Germany and then spent a year doing research at Children’s Hospital in Boston. He then enrolled at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at New York University, and his fellowship in orthopedic traumatology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, which is one of the busiest trauma centers in the world.
Dr. Schultz has a strong interest in research, with over 40 published peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, and multimedia projects focused on the care of orthopedic trauma patients. His work has been presented at national and international meetings across the US and in Europe. Additionally, Dr. Schultz is an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, AO Trauma North America, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Schultz has been voted by his peers and recognized in Austin Monthly Magazine as a Top Doctor in 2024.
Dr. Schultz is happily married to his wife, Maddy Gantz, who is a dermatologist in Austin. They spend their free time enjoying the outdoors with their daughters and dog.

Meet Victoria Branyon, APRN, FNP-C, ONP-C
Nurse Practitioner for Dr. Blake Schultz
Victoria “Tori” Branyon is originally from Wichita Falls, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University before receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Texas A&M Health Science Center. After five years of bedside nursing, Tori went on to receive her Master of Science in Nursing at the Unversity of Texas Medical Branch and orthopedic certification at the University of St. Joseph. She and her husband have lived in Austin since 2006. Her experience includes intermediate care, pre-operative & PACU, and perioperative medicine.
Tori is a member of American Association of Nurse Practitioners, National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses, and Orthopaedic Trauma Association.When not working, Tori enjoys adventures with family and friends.
