Texas Orthopedics is pleased to announce the addition of our newest team member, pediatric orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Kelly Cline. Dr. Cline is a highly experienced board-certified orthopedic surgeon with dual fellowships in pediatric orthopedics and sports medicine. She is one of only a few pediatric orthopedic surgeons in the region to provide this type of specialized care.
Dr. Cline’s Background
Dr. Cline has extensive knowledge and training in pediatric, adolescent and collegiate sports medicine as well as pediatric trauma. As a Texas native, she earned her undergraduate degree and Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas and completed her residency at the University of Texas Southwestern.
Dr. Cline continued pursuing her passion and completed her year-long sports medicine fellowship at the University of Southern California. She then went on to complete her pediatric orthopedic fellowship at the Orthopedic Institute for Children in Los Angeles, CA. She is one of a very few female orthopedic surgeons in the country with this dual-training. Most recently Dr. Cline worked at Cook Children’s honing her skills in pediatric trauma in one of the busiest pediatric medical centers in Texas.
What Does a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon do?
As a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Cline is highly trained and experienced in treating and evaluating the musculoskeletal concerns in babies and individuals up to 30 years old. Pediatric orthopedic surgery is a bit different than adult orthopedic surgery.
Unlike an adult, a child’s body is still growing and developing, which ultimately affects the way the body reacts to musculoskeletal issues or injuries. Because of these differences, treatment for a child can often be different from an adult.
Dr. Cline is equipped to manage a variety of issues, including:
- Fractures
- Sports Injuries
- ACL tears
- Meniscus tears
A Pediatric Orthopedics’ Unique Approach
It’s no big surprise that going to the doctor can cause many children to feel scared or apprehensive. Dr. Cline offers a unique approach that allows children and caregivers to feel more comfortable and cooperative during their care.
At Texas Orthopedics, we continue to set the bar for providing the best care and the best quality personnel available to you.
