Dr. Ryan M. Tibbetts is a board-certified and fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in shoulder, elbow, and knee surgery as well as sports medicine. Dr. Tibbetts completed his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in College Station and his medical degree at McGovern Medical School at UT Health in Houston. During medical school, he was recognized with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency training at Texas A&M University’s Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX. Dr. Tibbetts went on to complete the Rockwood Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio with two world-renowned shoulder surgeons, Dr. Charles A. Rockwood and Dr. Michael A. Wirth.
Dr. Tibbetts specializes in the treatment of a wide variety of orthopedic conditions, and performs several orthopedic procedures, including:

He also uses a collaborative approach to educate patients and allows them to participate in the decision-making process of their individual treatment.
He is a member and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
In 2017, Dr. Tibbetts was recognized in Texas Monthly Magazine as a Rising Star and has since been repeatedly recognized as a Super Doctor from 2018 through 2024. In 2022 and 2025 he was also recognized by his peers as an Austin Monthly Top Doctor.

Meet Kole Knutson, PA-C
Certified Physician Assistant for Dr. Tibbetts
Kole Knutson was born in Fort Worth, Texas and attended high school in Mansfield, Texas. He graduated with honors from Texas State University in 2015, where he was on the Track and Field team throwing discus. He went on to win the Western Athletic Conference Championship with his team in 2017 and became an Academic All-American. After college, he attended the physician assistant program at UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Having been an athlete his whole life, he had many encounters with orthopedic Physicians and PAs and was always interested in this field of medicine. After graduating from PA school he began his career in Denton specializing in shoulders and sports medicine. Kole had the opportunity to begin working with Dr. Ryan Tibbetts and relocated to Austin, Texas in May of 2022.
Outside of work, Kole enjoys traveling, paddle boarding, fishing, woodworking, live music, and any form of athletic competition.
