Scott A. Smith, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who also holds a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine. He has a special interest in hip, knee, and shoulder surgery. Dr. Smith is distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Smith received a bachelor of science in biology from Texas A&M University and a medical degree from Texas Tech University. He completed his orthopedic residency at Michigan State University and serves on the staff of all area hospitals. As a Sports Medicine physician, Dr. Smith has enjoyed being a high school team physician since 1996, currently for Westwood High School.
Dr. Smith has been voted by his peers to the Texas Monthly Super Doctors list from 2007-2020 and the Super Doctors Legacy Hall of Fame in 2022 – 2024.
Dr. Smith is happily married and has four children. He is an avid sports fan and participates in basketball, golf, and tennis. He is actively involved with his church and enjoys spending time with his family in his free time.

Physician Assistant for Dr. Scott Smith
Jerry Lopez, PA-C has been the physician assistant for Dr. Scott Smith since 2004. Jerry graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in health science. He furthered his studies at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Medex Northwest Physician Assistant Training Program.
Jerry is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He is board-certified by the National Committee on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
